Why does beYogi's yoga insurance outweigh Insurance Canopy?
Unlike Insurance Canopy, beYogi Insurance Plus offers yoga instructors all-inclusive liability insurance as low as $179 a year. beYogi also offers a $25 student policy, so if you are a student currently enrolled in yoga teacher training (YTT) you are covered even if the unfortunate happens. Insurance Canopy does not offer an affordable student rate, leaving you uncovered if something unforeseen happens to you. Many yoga instructors will tell trainees to purchase a student policy because as a student you are learning the safety precautions of different yoga poses everyday—and being protected is essential to your success as yoga teacher.
In addition, Insurance Canopy does not offer a part-time yoga insurance policy which means you are forced to purchase a full-time policy even though you won't be teaching for those allotted hours. Thankfully, beYogi Insurance Plus offers and affordable, part-time yoga insurance policy that not only includes stolen equipment coverage and a free website. And while you may be teaching at one studio for now, you never know what the future holds! Opportunities may arise to teach a workshop, in private client’s homes, or at retreats and festivals. beYogi insurance will follow you not matter where you decide to take your passion.
Another reason why beYogi Insurance Plus outweighs Insurance Canopy is because they do not offer their policy holders with benefits such as stolen equipment coverage, identity protection, and a free professional website.
Having stolen equipment coverage is something that every yoga instructor should consider, especially if you invest a lot of money in yoga mats and blocks for your clients. If something that you use for your business is stolen from you, beYogi will reimburse you for those lost or stolen items. When you become insured through beYogi Insurance Plus, you will have up to $1,000 in stolen equipment coverage, giving you the peace of mind you need.
Along with the stolen equipment coverage that beYogi Insurance Plus offers, you will also receive identity protection coverage and a free professional website. When you purchase a policy through Insurance Canopy, you will not receive either of those benefits, which could potentially put your identity and brand at risk. By investing in a beYogi Insurance Plus policy, you are not only protecting your career but also your practice.

beYogi vs Insurance Canopy FAQs
Who is Insurance Canopy?
With a little more than 10 years in business, Insurance Canopy is one of the newcomers to yoga insurance. Insurance Canopy is an online small business insurance marketplace. Unlike insurance agents, who usually represent one insurance carrier, Insurance Canopy acts as a brokerage, linking their clients with any one of a number of different carriers.
What are Insurance Canopy’s coverage limits in comparison to beYogi?
On their General and Professional liability coverages, Insurance Canopy includes the same $2 million per occurrence and $3 million individual annual aggregate limits that beYogi’s yoga insurance policies provide. For products coverage, Insurance Canopy offers a $3 million annual aggregate but also includes “completed operations” within this coverage limit thereby possibly limiting the amount an individual claim will be afforded by increasing the “pool” of claims within this limit. beYogi provides a full $2 million annual aggregate just for product coverage without any additional hoops to jump through. With rental damage, Insurance Canopy provides a $300,000 limit while beYogi offers a $200,000 limit but Insurance Canopy limits all damage claims to strictly premises rented by you, unless it was caused by fire and then also includes temporarily occupied spaces where permission from the owner was granted beforehand.
Where can I see Insurance Canopy reviews?
Insurance canopy does not currently utilize TrustPilot as beYogi does. TrustPilot is an independent third-party review gathering platform that presents verified reviews in a totally unbiased environment. It's been shown where reviews on popular platforms like Google and Yelp have been written by owners, employees, or other parties with a vested interest in the company and which then artificially inflate the ratings of the company. Since many consumers rely on the reviews of others to make an educated purchasing decision, we choose to utilize TrustPilots unbiased approach to gathering verified member reviews. We are proud of our “Excellent” rating on TrustPilot with a 4.8 out of 5 star rating and more than 300 reviews.
Does Insurance Canopy include stolen equipment coverage?
Insurance Canopy does not include stolen equipment coverage per se. Rather, Insurance Canopy includes coverage for inland marine. Inland marine coverage will provide some protection for equipment or gear that's damaged but only that which would be deemed "portable" or "transportable" and does not include coverage for structures and items that are a part of that structure. They provide $2,000 in coverage for inland marine with a $100 deductible.
What are the part-time instructor and full-time instructor hour limits for Insurance Canopy?
Insurance Canopy does not provide a distinction between part-time and full-time instructors. Therefore, even if you are only providing yoga instruction for a few hours a week as a part-time instructor, you will still have to pay the same premium as a full-time instructor. beYogi offers the convenience of both a full-time and a part-time rate so our professionals can choose the best coverage for them and their unique situation.
Will you receive nationwide coverage with Insurance Canopy yoga insurance?
Yes, with both beYogi and Insurance Canopy you will receive coverage in all 50 US states. Keep in mind, different states have different requirements for yoga teacher training or certification and/or licensure to begin conducting business. Always check with your state board for the requirement specific to your area.
Is an Identity Protection Plan included with Insurance Canopy yoga insurance?
No, Insurance Canopy does not provide an identity protection plan with their coverage leaving you and your ability to conduct future operations at risk should a cyber incident occurs. beYogi provides identity theft protection as an additional benefit to our members.
The Identity Protection plan is provided through our partnership with Identity Fraud, Inc. With this protection, members have unlimited access to certified fraud victim resolution professionals whose sole mission is to help you resolve your case, no matter how complex. With cyber incidents around the world occurring with greater frequency every day, it’s important to have protections in place should a cybercriminal target your personal data online.
With Insurance Canopy are you still covered after you’ve stopped teaching?
Not likely. Because Insurance Canopy utilizes a claims-made policy, any claim that’s filed after your insurance expires i.e. when you’ve stopped teaching for a time, will not be covered unless you’ve specifically purchased an additional policy tail. beYogi desires transparency and convenience for our members so uses occurrence form policies which simply means if an incident occurs while the policy is active, it doesn't matter if it’s reported months after a policy expires, it is still covered under the provisions of your beYogi policy.
Does Insurance Canopy exclude any modalities for yoga insurance?
Yes, Insurance Canopy specifically excludes Aerial yoga from their yoga insurance policies. With beYogi, we cover more than 350 different modalities and continually are adding more modalities to the list. We want our members to always be free to something new or offer multiple modalities to students without having to worry a mood-killer like their insurance exclusions. If you check out our list and don’t see yours covered, just contact us. We’ll talk it over with our underwriters to see about having your modality added.
What are the coverages included with an Insurance Canopy yoga insurance policy?
Insurance Canopy includes General and Professional liability provisions at a $2 million per occurrence and $3 million individual annual aggregate. They also include product coverage, personal & advertising injury, rental damage, and inland marine/business personal property coverage.
Does Insurance Canopy provide any sort of member benefits with their policies?
Insurance Canopy does not list any form of member benefits on their website that would be included with their yoga insurance policies. By comparison, beYogi policies include $300+ in member benefits within a variety of yogi-curated discounts on gear and accessories, business resources, a free website, access to leading pose library, endless playlists, yoga teacher resources, and more, with additional benefits being added all the time.
What is the Insurance Canopy membership cost?
Insurance Canopy includes only a basic number of coverage options for the rate of $129 per year. Conversely, beYogi includes incredibly robust coverage options made expressly by and for those that are teaching yoga, combined with more than $300 in member benefits, great business support tools, exclusive access to content, an easy and intuitive membership portal, and more, all for the low rates of $159 for part-time, $179 per year for full-time or $327.95 for two years, and offers students in yoga teacher training a comprehensive policy with the same coverage and benefits for just $25 per year.
Is Insurance Canopy a claims-made or occurrence form policy?
Insurance Canopy offers a claims-made policy. For a claims-made policy, any claim that occurs after a policy has expired would not be covered unless there was an additional time period of coverage purchased with the initial policy. This additional period within a claims-made policy is referred to in the industry as a "tail". By comparison, beYogi utilizes an occurrence form policy. This means that if a claim is filed after a policy has expired, as long as the incident occurred while the policy was still in effect, the claim is absolutely covered.
Does Insurance Canopy include a yoga student teacher policy option?
No, Insurance Canopy does not currently provide any policy for a student in yoga teacher training. Comparatively, beYogi chooses to make an investment in our future industry leaders and so offers the next generation of yoga instructors the same coverage limits and membership benefits as our professional insurance policies, offered to yoga teacher students at the incredible rate of just $25 per year.
Does Insurance Canopy provide rental damage coverage?
Yes, Insurance Canopy provides $300,000 for coverage to a premises that's damaged by you or a client. However, keep in mind that for any damage other than fire, the premises has to actually have been rented by you. As a comparison, beYogi provides $200,000 in rental damage coverage but doesn’t muddle what’s covered by limiting different occurrences.
What is the Insurance Canopy Marketplace?
Insurance Canopy is a marketplace for small businesses to find different insurance carriers. Insurance Canopy is not like an agent working for one carrier rather they act as a brokerage and present multiple carriers to a client. With beYogi, you aren’t working with a brokerage trying to link you up to different carriers, rather you receive our own brand of yoga insurance made by yogis, for yogis.
