What Is Yoga Therapist Liability Insurance?

Like many health and wellness professionals, yoga therapists should carry liability insurance to help protect themselves from lawsuits and malpractice claims. Yoga therapist insurance provides valuable financial protection if a claim is filed against you, whether valid or not, helping cover expenses such as legal fees, medical costs, settlements, and more.

Why Should All Yoga Therapists Have A Policy?

Whether you are a W-2 employee or an independent provider, having your own professional and general liability insurance policy helps protect your personal financial assets. While your facility may provide some coverage under a group policy, claims often name multiple employees, which can leave you exposed if shared aggregate policy limits are exhausted. An individual policy gives you dedicated protection and added peace of mind.

What is occurrence form coverage, and why is it important?

Occurence-based coverage is the preferred coverage option because it protects policyholders even after the policy expires. With occurrence-based coverage, you're protected for incidents that occur during the policy period. Even if you file a claim after the policy expires, you'll still be covered for incidents that happened while the policy was active..

Claims can be delayed for various reasons, such as a client not realizing the full extent of their injury, paperwork issues, or other factors. As a result, a claim might be filed after your policy has expired. For this reason, occurrence-based protection can be a lifesaver for yoga professionals because they don't have to stress about a claim being filed on time for incidences that occur while the policy is in place.

How does a yoga therapy insurance claim work?

After an incident in which a student or third party is harmed, they could file a lawsuit against you. If this happens, the policyholder should contact the yoga insurance company and file a claim.
