Despite a yoga instructor's best efforts to teach safe yoga practices, injuries do happen. And they can be financially devastating without the backing of a solid insurance plan. Even if your studio covers you, it's important to have personal coverage because other employees can exhaust the studio's aggregate total.

Why is yoga insurance referred to as yoga liability insurance?
Those in the health professions are trusted by their students/patients to receive a reasonable level of care and certainly don’t expect to be harmed. Yogis need to especially mindful of this trust and responsibility to their students. From a legal standpoint, yoga instructors, and even student yoga teachers, can be liable for loss or harm that occurs during the course of their instruction. Yoga liability insurance literally insures (meaning protects financially) you and your practice should a claim be brought against you.
To be an effective teacher in the practice of yoga, you have to be at peace with your situation. If you’re worried over the “what-ifs”, you won’t be at peace. That’s why our plans provide comprehensive coverage for almost every conceivable liability that could threaten your practice, as well as, provide exclusive tools, resources, and added benefits to our members.

What type of insurance should a yoga teacher have?
At the very least, a yoga instructor insurance policy should provide comprehensive coverage for the modality that you choose to teach. This should include general liability, as well as, professional liability provisions. beYogi's yoga insurance coverage provides generous provisions for each of these, all the way up to $2 million per claim and a $3 million individual aggregate. But unlike other yoga insurance providers, we don’t stop with the bare minimum. BeYogi plans also come with the added protections we’ve learned are vital to a yoga practice such as product coverage and identity theft protection.

How do I explain the benefits of yoga to new students?
As a yogi, you know yoga isn't done over a few sessions a week. It’s a lifestyle of mindfulness connecting body, mind, and spirit. BeYogi gives you the tools from some of the most respected teachers in the yoga community for passing on your knowledge to your students. Be sure to check out our exclusive yoga teacher resources page. There we'll help equip you to gently guide others on their own yoga journeys.
Do you offer Continuing Education (CE) credits for Registered Yoga Teachers (RYTs)?
To maintain your RYT, every three years you must have 45 hours of teaching yoga and 30 hours of yoga-related training. Of these, 10 hours must be contact training, and 20 hours are non-contact training like reading articles, authoring yoga content, or taking online courses. At beYogi, we can help you easily obtain your 20 hours of non-contact training with our troves of helpful articles. As well, we encourage yogis to submit their own content for consideration as an addition to our tribe’s knowledge base. As a benefit of your yoga insurance policy, you’ll also be granted members-only pricing from other recognized yoga resources and courses, which can count towards receiving CE credit. For our massage therapists out there, we’ve partnered with Massage Magazine to offer steep discounts for massage therapy CE courses.
