CorePower Yoga Frequently Asked Questions
CorePower Yoga is a powerful blend of several different yoga practices, as well as total body conditioning. Three of the most popular yoga styles currently in practice today are incorporated at different levels of difficulty ranging from a beginner completely new to yoga to accomplished yogis looking to really ramp up their practice. The three yoga practices used most often in CorePower Yoga programs include: Bikram, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa.
No matter which style you cater to, CorePower Yoga has a class designed just for you. Whether that’s a “C1” class where you learn the basics in a Vinyasa-style sequence or in a Hot Power Fusion (HPF) class that combines power Vinyasa with Hot Yoga for a strength and balance challenge. Unlike most other yoga classes out there, CorePower Yoga also has programs that involve the use of free weights. Yoga Sculpt is one such class that incorporates strength-training exercises into the yoga regimen for a total body workout unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.
Salaries for a CorePower Yoga instructor vary significantly based on geographical location, skill level, bonuses, and other forms of compensation. Glassdoor.com lists the average salary range for CorePower Yoga instructors between $12 - $37 per hour.
The length of time to become a CorePower Yoga teacher can vary depending on the teacher training program you choose to undertake. In order to achieve a Teacher Training Certificate, your training must be completed within one year of beginning the program. CorePower Yoga Teacher training comes in two different programs - either one of several forms of 200-hour Teacher Training or a Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training program.
- The 200-hour teaching program typically lasts between 8 and 13 weeks, with three classes per week. Once the 200-hour training is complete, you will earn a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification.
- The Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training takes five weeks to complete, with two classes per week. We also have advanced training opportunities for furthering your knowledge in yogic practice.
- The highest training level available is to get certified as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT). To achieve this distinction as a facilitator of the 200-hour teacher training, you will be required to have at least two years of experience in the field and 1000 hours of teaching under your belt.
This will vary based on the class, geographical location, and the individual teacher but nationwide, the average for a CorePower Yoga teacher is between $12 - $37 per hour, according to Glassdoor.
Make sure you are intimately familiar with the three yoga practices used most often in CorePower Yoga programs which include: Bikram, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa. Mastering the basics of these core yoga practices along with sound strength and conditioning moves will aid you greatly as you prepare to sit for the teacher training final exam. As well, because of CorePower Yoga’s popularity, there are many websites offering free exam prep like flashcards and quizzes.
There will be elements of the course that require at-home study but, on the whole, no, CorePower Yoga teacher training is performed in a live, classroom setting. This allows students training to be teachers to receive the benefit of hands on application and also to build confidence in public speaking, critical for leading a class and something that’s hard to replicate online. CorePower Yoga classes can be found around the country and are offered throughout the year so you can be sure to find the right class near you.
There are partial in-studio scholarships available for the 200-hour teacher training programs. To apply, all you need to do is go into a CorePower Yoga studio and ask the team for a scholarship application. For a 20% discount on your teacher training, unlimited yoga classes, and other perks, consider joining the Black Tag Membership program.
Because CorePower Yoga is so popular, there are many educational resources available on the internet to help you prepare for the exam. Sites like Quizlet and others have prepared flashcards, quizzes, games, and other tools to help you as you prepare. Please note, these sites are not affiliated with CorePower Yoga and should only be used as additional tools. Make sure to thoroughly review the materials and notes from your classes and ask your E-RYT any questions you may have.
All participants must be at least 18 years old in order to start any yoga teacher training program. You have the option to go for either the 200-hour certification program or the Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training program with no certification prerequisites. For the Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) program, you’ll need two years of experience and 1000 hours of teaching.
