Joining beYogi on the Webinar Series is Allison Rissel, yoga teacher & founder of the Yoga Teacher Conf. Allison’s passion and inspiration for helping other yoga teachers is contagious and she uses this to inspire other yoga teachers to overcome self-doubt and burnout.

Today we explore yoga events, conferences, and festivals and Allison teaches us the 5 best steps to promote yourself to event coordinators.

How to Get Booked At A Yoga Event Or Conference

Research the Yoga Event

Many teachers have wasted time and money teaching at an event that wasn’t a good fit for them. Before you apply to teach, research the conference, the conference coordinator, the values and ethics of the conference and the target market of the conference. Is it still a good fit for you?

Create Your Media Kit

This is how you prove to the conference coordinator that you have something of value to offer their audience. Put together your bio, several unique class titles and descriptions, pictures, your website, social media presence and liability insurance. Make sure your offering aligns with the event audience.

Network, Network, Network

Follow the networking checklist in the Guide to Getting Booked at Yoga Conferences, Festivals and Events. Connect with past teachers and the event coordinator. Be persistent but not annoying and always make sure to be professional in all of your communications.

What to Do Once You’re Booked

Help the conference coordinator sell tickets! When you’re tagged in a post, share it! Talk about the conference with your students and fellow teachers and post on social media and in your email marketing regularly. I always invite the teachers back who help me market the most! Also, make sure to put together your marketing plan before the event.

Build Your Business

Be professional, on-time and attend the entire event. Volunteer to help the yoga event or conference coordinator for extra networking opportunities and face time. Network with the other teachers and attend their classes. Teach your best class EVER and implement your marketing plan. For extra bonus points - send a handwritten thank you note to the conference coordinator. 😉
