11 Awesome Ways to Make Passive Income as a Yoga Instructor

passive income with yoga

Teaching yoga is a great way to bring monumental change to people’s lives. But when you decide to teach yoga, you trade your time for income.

This isn’t always ideal especially when you have bills to pay, but there are plenty of ways to make passive income as a yoga instructor.

Passive income is a way for you to make extra money without having to physically dedicate all your time to one specific thing that deprives you from doing what you love—teaching.

Here are 11 ways you can make passive income as a yoga instructor!

1. Get a cash back credit card that gives you rewards.

Having a credit card that gives you cash back on purchases can be awesome because you can use it for purchases that you make when you shop for a private client or your yoga studio. Take a look at the different card options and figure out which one is best for you and your needs.

2. Turn your professional photos into stock photography.

Quality stock photos are always in high demand, and you can easily make money by submitting them to sites such as Shutterstock or iStockPhoto. When people purchase your photos, you will receive either a sale or a percentage with royalties. Now, keep in mind your photos need to be extremely high quality, otherwise sites such as the ones listed above won't accept them!

3. Write an informational guide or ebook.

Writing a book, whether it’s an ebook or an informational guide, might require some time upfront—but once you’re finished with it, you can market it in a variety of ways. The benefits and earnings are different for everyone, so do your research before you start. Once you have an idea in mind, start to focus on your marketing efforts to sell the book to other yogis or businesses in order to create a profit for yourself.

4. Become an influencer or an ambassador.

There are a ton of companies that are looking to advertise with popular yogis, so don't be afraid to use your social following as a way to leverage this opportunity. You might not receive direct payment, but you will receive free products to review and share with your followers! This will help you from spending money on items like yoga pants or essential oils.

5. Post your classes online.

Creating an online yoga studio for your classes can be a lucrative way to make a little extra money and help you to get your name out there. Although doing something like this might cost you a little money upfront, it’s totally worth it! Just make sure that you market and promote your course in order to gain the traction it needs to be successful.

6. Join a multi-level marketing company.

Multi-level marketing is one of the fastest growing ways to create passive income as a yoga instructor. But like most things, it requires your time and sometimes money. Multi-level companies offer amazing products, so make sure you connect with the products they sell and above all the company’s values.

7. Rent out your yoga studio.

You can rent out a space in your home or yoga studio to other yoga teachers or for yoga events in exchange for payment. Having a sacred space to call your own is a blessing, especially when it’s being used to generate income. When the space is sitting empty you can easily make money on it by renting it out. It's a win-win for everyone!

8. Make videos and post them on Youtube.

Once you hit around 250,000 views on Youtube, interest will begin to build through companies that have bought ad space on your video wall. If you decide that making videos is something that interests you, make sure you create videos that are engaging and also offer several call-to-actions (CTA). Not only can you make money through Youtube, but you can create new opportunities for yourself that can be helpful as you grow your brand or business.

9. Create a profitable blog.

The internet is a powerful tool to create a business that can generate income. Having an online blog with a lot of readers can be awesome because just like, Youtube, ad space around your posts can be bought through Google. Creating a successful blog will take time and dedication but you can easily make a little extra money each month once you have a decent following.

10. Create an online course.

Show your expertise by creating an online course about a topic you are passionate about. Online courses are a great way to show your leadership and get all the information you love out there for people to see. Maybe it’s a meditation course or an exclusive yoga sequence, creating something like this can help you spread the word about your business.

11. Design unique yoga products.

Do you have an eye for design? Or a creative energy that you want to share with the world? Try designing your own one-of-a-kind yoga gear—everything from t-shirts, to leggings, to mugs. Use your creativity whether it’s digitally or physically and create something unique! Once you have your products together, you can start to sell them online or at stores such as Cafe Press.
